Chores are good for your children as these can teach life lessons. Aside from that, moms and dads could use a little help from kids so having them do household chores is pretty beneficial.
A recent study shows that chores are beneficial for kids in the long run. They tend to grow up as well-adjusted adults, having good relationships with friends and family.
A study conducted by the University of Mississippi where they analyzed data collected from over 25 years starting in 1967, found a relationship between kids doing chores at age 3 to 4 and success by the time they reach the mid-20s.
According to researcher Mary Rossman, children who helped around the house were more likely to grow up to be well-adjusted adults with successful careers and better relationships with their friends and family compared to the children who didn’t do any chores.”
According to her in The Washington Times, chores can teach the children how important it is to contribute at home. This, in turn, leads the kids to be more empathetic adults.
Coco Castro Cruz, a nation-builder social entrepreneur and a mom of two said in a 2012 interview with Smart Parenting that chores can help shape kids become better adults. In her words, “Eventually, when kids grow into adults, they will need to run their own families and their own homes. “More than the obvious domestic benefits, exposing them early into a culture of helping others makes children grow up to be responsible, caring adults.”
